Thing 23 - The End

I cannot believe the end is here. I finally made it through 23 Things. It has been an interesting journey for me at times challenging with lots of reading; but on the whole fun. I have learned a lot through these past weeks. I now know about flickr, podcast, del.ious.us to name a few. I had fun with YouTube, Meez, Web 2.0 and much more. I am very pleased that even though at times the journey was not easy I kept up with it and at last I have made it to the finish line. I am very proud of myself. 23 Things has opened a whole new world for me. It is the way of the future and I plan to continue exploring more Tech things.

Thing 22 - Downloadable Audiobooks

I love to listen to books. With three little ones I find myself listening to books more and more while on the road. During my search on netlibaray and overdrive, I was a bit disappointed I could not find a lot of titles that I was interested in. I did see a list of some classics that I will like to listen to though. With my new MP3 player I plan to download a couple of titles and listen to them.

Thing 21 - Podcasting

This is yet another audio and video broadcasting over the internet. As with YouTube I enjoyed listening and watching the video clip. This is neat.

Thing 20 - YouTube

This video clip is one of my favorites. I enjoy kids animations and the fact that it is a commercial from the 70's that is very cool. Things have really changed.

Thing 19 - Web 2.0

I found searching on Web 2.0 very interesting and cool. I searched under places and started with Columbia, MD since I am new in the area. I found all kinds of interesting facts. Also searched information about West Africa that proved to be fun. I plan to go back and do more searching.

Thing 18 - Zoho Writer

I signed up for Zoho Writer and found it very easy to use. This is actually word processing and spreadsheet that is accessible anywhere. What I liked most about this is the fact that one can be any place at anytime and still be able to access a document on the virtual web. Cool.

Thing 17 - Sandbox

The Sandbox is a very useful tool and makes working on a project and collaborating with others very easy. I enjoyed working on this.

Thing 16 - Wiki

This is a great learning tool and very good for libraries. The Wikepedia as a way of communication definitely encourages groups of people and libraries share information which is the way of the future. I like the fact that it available and could be accessed in many languages. My only problem is the fact that anyone can change someone else's information any time because of the easy access. Oh well...

Thing 15 - Web 2.0

Technology is definitely the way of the future. It is information sharing, linking people, gathering knowledge, building better data and much more. I know that Libraries need to keep up new technology daily. However for me even though this is all exciting and I know it is the future I still look forward to sitting down with a book and flick through pages.

Thing 14 - Technorati

Thank goodness I did not have to register for this. I discovered how big the blogosphere is. Everyone is blogging. Even me. Searching blogpost, tags and blog directory the results for a specific search are very similar. This is cool.

Thing 13 - Del.icio.us

Another site explored and yet another account to register. This is indeed "delicious". I initially had problems watching and listening to the tutorial. Eventually I made it.

Thing 12 - Rollyo

Another way to search information collectively. It puts all your search in one place. This is pretty cool but yet another site to register.

Thing 11 - LibraryThing

Library Thing was fun and I cataloged some of my favorite books.

Thing 10 - Meez

Meez 3D avatar avatars games

This is so cool.

Thing 9 - Merlin

I already knew about Merlin. I am also familiar with other literature related feeds and this is one more added. After going through all these feeds it gets a bit confusing but I am sure as I continue on this journey things will become much better.

Thing 8 - RSS Feeds

I found learning about RSS Feeds very interesting. This exercise has been one of the easier one for me. I guess since we have been using it at HCL and I already had a training on it. This is so cool having a lot of your information in one place. The down side to this for me is that one can get carried away since there is so much information out there. Also subscribing to yet another site. Oh well this is all worth it.

Thing 7 - Tech Things

Calm Nature Scene taken from flickr. Technology is definitely the way of the future. I am so glad I am doing this training because I am learning a lot of things I did not know before. I am communicating with family and friends and best of all sharing information and uploading pictures. This is great.

Thing 6 - Mashups and Third Party Sites

I don't know when I would use this. Learning about Mashups using Flickr images is very interesting information.

Flickr is fun and very interesting. I am having some issues though in uploading my picture. But I am very patient and I know by the end of this journey I definitely would have got it.

7 and 1/2 Habits

I listened to the 7 1/2 habits and it was interesting to know about learning styles and how to be lifelong learners. Sticking to Goals is very important. Whatever one sets out to do there should be a goal and accountibility. I generally do this but we will see...
